Soil
Well drained loamy and sandy loam soils are suitable for gram cultivation.
Preparatory tillage
Gram does not require as good preparation of soils as wheat. One two ploughings are
sufficient. The land should be a bit cloddy as it will help the aeration of the soil in root zone.
