Targets

The targets for the supply and distribution of bio-fertilizer have been fixed as under for the year 2009-10:-

AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION PROGRAMME FOR RABI 2009-10

(District wise Physical Targets)

 
(1) COMMERCIAL CROPS:-
District-wise targets of production of Potato and Vegetables fixed for Rabi 2009-10 are given as under of the annual targets during Rabi 2009-10 season, 20% targets of Potato and 40% targets of vegetables shall be achieved.

(2) DISTRIBUTION OF HIGH YIELDING VARIETY(HYV)/QUALITY SEEDS
With a view to cover more and more area under HYV/Quality Seeds during the Rabi season 2009-10, it has been envisaged to distribute 7200 MT certified seed of wheat, pulses and oilseeds.

(3) CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS
Judicious and balanced use of Fertilizers is key to increase production and productivity of crops. Department is promoting INM technology and farmers are being educated about desired doses of plant nutrients bases on soil fertility values. All the extension functionaries of the Department of Agriculture will make sustained and dedicated efforts to promote balanced use of chemical fertilizers. Farmers shall also be educated and encouraged to use bio-fertilizers, organic manure and compost so as to get more efficiency of the added chemical fertilizers.
The District-wise targets of fertilizers to be distributed during Rabi 2009-10 season in terms of nutrients are given below:-

(4) BIOFERTILIZERS
Organic farming is highly conducive and suitable for hill farming and Department is making efforts to promote organic farming practices amongst the farmers. The use of bio-fertilizers is being promoted through trainings and demonstrations. To ensure availability of quality bio-fertilizers production units in the State are being strengthened.

(5) PLANT PROTECTION

                  It is a well known fact that insect/pest/diseases and weeds if left uncontrolled, the production of crops is severely affected. With a view to increase Agriculture Production, it is very essential to adopt timely control measures against the infestation of various insects/pests/diseases and weeds. The plant protection measures are required to be undertaken right from seed treatment to the storage of seeds/grains. The District level functionaries are also responsible to enforce the quality control of insecticides under Insecticides Act. It has been envisaged to cover 147 thousand hect. area under plant protection measures during Rabi 2009-10. Efforts shall also be focused on the promotion of IPM technologies for different crops..
